"Ed Asks...will you march with me?"

Lets all join together and march as "ONE NATION" on Washington October 2nd

ONE NATION WORKING TOGETHER

Our nation stands at a critical crossroads. The 30-year drive for a low-wage, high-consumption society that imports more and more of what it consumes has hit the wall.

Millions are unemployed, with little recovery in sight. A record number of Americans who want desperately to work have been jobless for more than 6 months.

At the same time, Wall Street continues to roll up big profits. Banks and corporations have made off with trillions of public dollars, while small businesses can't get loans and cities are being forced to make cuts to public education and public safety, harming our children and our communities.

Obstructionists in Congress are doing everything they can to stop anything that helps working people, and they are scapegoating workers for the demise of the economy. Public sector workers are being cast as selfish, auto workers are being blamed for the troubles of the auto industry, and teachers are being blamed for an education system in need of support.

Working people are frustrated and angry-incensed by the government's inability to halt massive job loss and declining living standards on the one hand, and the comparative ease with which Republicans in Congress, with help from some Democrats, have done their best to make the world safe again for JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and CitiGroup, on the other.

Just as we have seen through history, fear mongers in our country have seized on that anger and are working hard -- unfortunately with some success--to use justifiable anger about a failing economy to divide us.

We have to fight this hateful demagoguery that only benefits our foes, and we can't do it alone. History has taught us that the best way to fight the forces of hatred is to address the economic policies that led to our economic suffering, and that our fight must draw its strength from an alliance of the poor and the middle class-everyone who works for a living.

It is against this backdrop that we join ONE NATION.

ONE NATION is a multi-racial, civil and human rights movement whose mission is to reorder our nation's priorities to invest in our nation's most valuable resource - our people.

The organizations that have come together to form ONE NATION believe that our goal should be a future of shared prosperity, not stubborn unemployment and a lost generation. Workers should be able to share in the wealth they create, and everyone deserves the opportunity to achieve the American Dream - a secure job; the chance for our children to get a great public education and the opportunity to make their own way in the world; and laws that protect us, not oppress us.

ONE NATION is a long-term effort to reverse the dangerous economic course of our country over the past four decades. It brings together organizations from across the progressive spectrum-labor, civil rights, environmental, faith and many others-recognizing that none of us alone have been able to achieve our priorities, whether they are large-scale job creation, labor law reform, immigration reform, investing in public education or other concerns, and that we will not realize change until these priorities belong to all of us.

ONE NATION shares the labor movement's policy agenda: An economy that works for all; good jobs, fair jobs, safe jobs, and more jobs; reforming Wall Street; repairing our immigration system; quality education for every child; and ensuring that everyone in America has the opportunity to contribute to and strengthen our country. Restoring workers' rights to organize and bargain collectively is at the heart of the policy agenda.

The ONE NATION march on Washington on October 2, 2010 will charge up an army of tens of thousands of activists who will return to their neighborhoods, churches, schools and, especially, voting booths, with new energy to enact our common agenda. And on the same day, the labor movement will walk door-to-door in targeted states around the country, bringing the same message to union members exactly one month before the fall elections.

The march aims to bring working people, young people, retirees, civil rights activists and many others together on the Mall to show the obstructionists in Congress that we are many and diverse, strong and that united-and we will fight together for the American Dream.

Many of our unions are already committed to work as a part of ONE NATION. The unions of the AFL-CIO proudly join this coalition and pledge to work collectively to add our support to this great effort.

Working people can make a difference when we rely on ourselves and act collectively. We are America. And together we can make our voices heard.

Ed,
You're the best! I didn't listen to you for a long time because I thought your voice sounded a lot like the "drugster" (Rush) but you can't help that! (Sorry!) I think you're awesome, esp knowing that you used to be a conservative -- it makes your transformation seem so much more genuine. Of all the liberal talking heads (and I listen to them ALL), I think you're my favorite - I never get the feeling you're getting worked up for ratings, or being disingenuous. I'm looking forward to reading your book. Keep it up, we need you - on both radio and television. Don't let the bastards get you down!

Ed's a brilliant man, ex-conservative or not. Even while playing football for the Dragons and trying out for the pros, his brilliance was evident. As a very good father, I think he realized the fatal future for his sons in a republican conservative world. Our fathers' and mothers' world is not for us. As we grow up, we must always create our own; it's part of the most natural progression on this planet. Fear of the future is really what's at the heart of the tea parties, i.e., angry older republicans who don't want this brave new world. In their world, no one like Barack Obama would ever ever have been elected even if he was the only solution. But in today's world, where racism still exists but time has cooled it off some and women and young people have power, Obama could be president. Keep watching and listening to Ed; he's the real deal!

Thank you ed again for all the help you have given us the unemployed and the 99er's in hopes that maybe Obama will take off his gloves and become a fighter for the people.

I can't understand how the republican party is getting away with what they are doing. I am also ahving a difficult time with pelosi and her laughing at us. the "Botox" queen needs a shot of reality.

Obama is a nice smart guy but he is no Roosevelt and his standing back and not ddressing the unemplyed problem has been such a disappointment. He needs to be a tough leader and stop playing like a guy with his tail tucked between his legs.

I am also sick of hearing and reading some of the media saying we are not looking for work as we are. I had a call last week from a business where I submitted my resume. When I told her how long I had been out of work , she told me she needed someone who had recent experience. I told her I've been doing this same work for 20 years and my skills are as good as now as they were before I lost my job. I also let her know, because I was angry, that the job I had applied for with her company was for way below the wage i had been paid at least five years ago and the wage offer was a shame.

My husband has been in the car business for 35 years and he has many contacts who would hire him in a New York minute if they had any business. he suffered a mild stoke, thank god, and I no it is due to the stress. Especially now since all benefits have stopped due to the RePukes and the sell outs whose names I need not mention, as you already know who they are.

I will be losing my healthcare very soon, he has VA but I don't qualify for his benefits. He is preparing to file banruptsy as he can no longer make payments on his credit cards that we have been having to use to pay for other bills. Until the checks stopped he was making double payments. Today I noticed his left arm being swollen and he told me it was hurting. This is a sign of congestive heart failure. I know because this is the field I worked in, I can't get him to go to the doctor as he can't pay the VA co-pay. I am so afraid I going to lose him too.

I had an interview last week in na Alzhiemers care center. The pay is terrible and this kind of work is difficult but I am praying I get the position, it's better than nothing. I am going nuts sitting in this house. My anxiety and depression is taking it's toll on me too. All I want is a job ANY job. Our whole life is collapsing all around us. I've stopped eating as much as possible to cut the cost. My husband is a five year cancer survivior and can't eat food. Thank God that the VA covers his Ensure as he drinks 10 cans a day.

How did America get so upside down? I knew it was going to get augly when Bush was draggin us down I just didn't think it would get this bad.

Any way thank you so much for all you are and have been doing to get our plight out in the open. I wish many more would do the same.

God BLess

GONZALES, AND LAST NOT FORGET, FORMER VICE PRESIDENT DICK CHENEY, WHO TESTIFIED OVER AND OVER, "CAN'T REMEMBER, CAN REMEMBER." THIS BP CEO

the Republicans in Congress "VOTED", "NO", TO EXTEND
LONGER AID FOR YOU PEOPLE WHO DOES NOT HAVE A
JOB, NOW". This is what the Republicans feel about all of
you, they "Don't Care", because they are recieving thousands of dollars from the oil campanies, from the
Insurances, and many other companies. The have no
heart for the poor people. Why do you Republican people want to "VOTE FOR THESE PEOPLE". You will
not expect much from them. Again, "VOTE" for new candidates that will help you and American. We have
a few bad Democrats also. Lets get rid of them. A Demo

Ed, I urge all Americans to stop buying Products from another country, it is time for us Americans to make our
leaders start opening jobs here in America. Instead most
of our needs has gone to other countries and here we are left without jobs. If our leaders are not willing to do
this, then lets vote for new leaders that will help us the
American people. They are not willing to do this for us, so far, so lets get rid of all these old people in congress
that are just packeting huge amount of money time after
time. It is time to send them home. A Demo.

It is a shame for the president and congress to play like there are plenty of jobs when there are the 99ers who have exhausted all of their benefits and can't put food on the table, pay their bills and might be loosing everything they have. The president have the power to do something like a executive order but he ain't to wooy neither the way its look. Obama needs to do something and fast for the 99ers who have exhausted all of their benefits. Ed want you try to get obama on the show and ask him why is he leaving the 99ers out to die.

Obama IS a fighter for the people; that's why he got $20B out of BP and started his administration by signing the Lilly Ledbetter Act, helping women earn as much as men with the same jobs. Blame the people who took away the jobs and those who support them, not the President who has done everything he could think of at this point to help to ease the pain. If a truck driver injured me in a wreck, I surely wouldn't blame the freaking ambulance driver who came to take me to the hospital or the EMTs who might cause a little pain to avoid much more severe problems! To do so is sicker than the injuries from the accident!

Many of the new so-called Democrats who were republicans or the crazy-name "reagan democrats" expect the republicans to act in favor of the people. Crap! They never have and never will; get it into your heads! They are just like the people who sent indentured servants to the New World to make money for them so they wouldn't have to sweat to eat and when the indentured servants weren't profitable enough, they got slaves!

By the way, Nancy Pelosi is the best, most courageous House Leader in the history of the US, Botox notwithstanding and Obama is better than Roosevelt could ever think of being! He has addressed the unemployed problem and joined with House and Senate Democrats to alleviate it.

America got so upside down because some people didn't listen to Bush's FRIENDS who told the public - THIS MAN IS NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER. Remember? Would you vote for the village idiot if his friends identified him as such?! Yet, they still went out and voted for him and look at what happened. …and don't give him any credit for defense of this country. He weakened defense forever, as we will see later.

My advice is: Listen to Ed and always vote your long-term interests and don't fall victim to fads of the day.

I live in Grand Junction, Colorado. We have a population of approximately 45,000 people. We lost the most jobs per ca pita in the United States. I am female and 60 years old and have worked in the building supply business for 30+ years. I have raised and supported three sons without child support. I have paid all my house payments on time for over 12 years. I was laid off last Feb. 09 and have not been able to get a job in my field, nor an entry level job or a job in fast food. You apply via the internet and you never hear from any prospective employer, no interview nothing! I am coming to the end of my third tier in July and there is no tier 4! The State of Colorado is at 8% unemployment but, Grand Junction has hovered at 10% since May 09. I have been planning for earning extra money in my retirement years by taking three quarters of my acre and planting fruit trees, berries and vegetables to sell at the farmers market and food banks. I wake up every morning with a knot in my stomach. What if I cannot make my house payment, I'm sixty! I cannot just run away! I have worked really hard for my dream, but what the heck! I am just a small person. That is how the House and the Congress are treating the unemployed. They do not have to worry, they believe they are the aristocrats and they are entitled to be above or better than anyone else. Let the small people disappear but, who will serve them? Clean their homes for them? Take their trash away? Few people say we are heading into the end times but, certainly it does not have to be that way but, only time will tell. Please keep up the fight for the plight of the small people and now that I found you I will keep watching. Thank God for Ed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

It's good to hear someone on the talk shows who seem to be for the American people, and for the good of America. It seems that the vast majority is a Republican, just thinking about their pockets, and the big guys. Thanks Ed for being a true American. Hope you catch or caught alot of walleye's

I guess the GOP thinks we are a deadbeat Country huh?

But I apologize for the other unemployed out there,I guess we suck huh? (note sarcasm)
