National tickets: stark contrast on social issues
Yahoo Political News - | Tuesday, August 21, 2012

FILE - In this May 9, 2012, file photo President Barack Obama is seen on a White House television in Washington during an interview with ABC News where he said he supports gay marriage. Voters in this presidential election may face the starkest choice ever on the hot-button social issues of same-sex marriage, abortion rights and access to birth control. Most voters tell pollsters that the economy is their chief concern. But advocacy groups on the left and right are in high gear _ with bus tours, YouTube videos and fundraising _ pointing out the sharp differences between the parties in the current phase of the culture wars. The upcoming conventions will highlight the contrasts between the parties on abortion and other issues.
