New polling shows Americans line up behind President Obama, in favor of progressive ideas and in total opposition to the garbage Republicans are pushing. On issue after issue, America is a center-left country. Watch it.
Old hippie flower child here too. BTW, there is no gray, only "wisdom highlights". I get rid of the gray by using bleach.
I remember going to war protests in college and just pissing off the older generation in general. We knew the war was based on a lie and they were cooking the books about the numbers of war dead on our side and on the Vietnam side. In the end, they lost way more people than we did.
I'll never forget the late Erma Bombeck, whom I loved, but she was the WWII generation said before she died, " Our children were right."
Whoever might become a spokesperson needs to approach this subject as twofold, not "entitlements" but as SOCIAL/CORPORATE Entitlements. And let's see which one is costing this country more, and which one brings more benefit.
Remember when they kept saying, if we would only let them drill for oil here our gas prices would be affordable??? HOW' THAT WORKIN OUT FOR YA'LL???
Sucks doesn't it. An oil industry spokesperson said yesterday we are doing more drilling for oil here than we ever have and prices just keep going higher. So................why should we continue to subsidize the oil companies with WELFARE OIL DEPLETION when we the people get NO BENEFIT???
They lied through their teeth, it was never about lower prices for the middle class. They pulled that same BS when they said the Iraq war would also result in lower gas prices.

Imagine if the GOP in the 1950s was like the GOP of today, we would have a country with NO interstate highway system, imagine taking all day long just to drive 400 miles!

Linda V. I let my hair grow for months then finally break down and get it cut. I have it cut shorter than the old days and let it grow and it is a different color also. Turn gray when the first boy knocked on the door to take our daughter out even with his mom driving the to the school dance.
The problem with the right is the cant get it the average Americans with common sense and who will check on their lies are saying either change and work for America or get out of town and let others who will work for America.

Great points everybody...........We need to get an opposite of Grover N to go out and push a "Protect the Big Three Pledge" in the media and threaten to primary those who don't sign the pledge promising to "never cut big three benefits"..............."never raise the eligibility age" & etc...........there are petitions on the subject matter, but we need a pledge & someone to highlight it in the media............in my opinion it could be a game changer..............much more powerful than the tax pledge.........it would just need a spokesperson & lots of media attention to work.

Linda Virginia I wasnt a big time hippie, but was aways standing up to the old folks and the gop. The gop people were my wife's family's g-ds. She was the rebel who was a free thinker and when she married me they were happy expect I was just as bad as she was. They didnt like the idea that people wouldnt sit there and let them get away with their lies and the rest.
These gop=tea baggers today arent the gop of old which were pertty nutty for their time, but these new ones want to destroy the government and live by ayn rand rules. I see it with the young people today, and we older people are saying when we protested and we support the rights of people, we wanted to end wars, and to protect everyone's furture. This new generation who are protesting are following us from the past as they are fighting to stop wars, civil rights of all, and to protected the older people. They are fighting the new gop=tea baggers who only thing is their own greed and the country and others be damn.
just my humble view

We all talk about our generation and know it was the best time to be young. A teenager in the late 60's early 70's. We had our whole lives ahead of us. Old people were afraid of us..."the hippies".....well it is our generation now and we have the rest of our lives ahead of us an it is time for a hippie revolution to protect our future....Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid. It is left up to us. All you old hippies call the Whitehouse, call congress.... more than just your representative. Call all the red states governors that are not going to let their state have, Affordable Health Care and tell them we are not going to stand still and let them abuse us, neglect us and leave us to die. Start with Bob McDonnell, Rick Perry and just keep calling. We need results... NOW !

Notice how the Democratic Party fails to draw a line in the sand & stand with the people when it comes to protecting the Big Three? Why not take a page out of Grover N's playbook & have them sign a pledge to protect the big three & pledge to not cut benefits?????????..........Lets see the Republicans refuse to sign it????

Let's hope so. I believe the average minority voter isn't as thick as the average lower class white voter. The 50's are over, and they aint coming back. The pubs are stuck in a time warp where women and minorities knew their place. The problem with that is, whites are becoming just another minority. They have said it themselves:
"Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is warning Republicans that the strategy of relying on “angry white guys” is eventually going to doom his party. "
