Republicans are constantly pushing cuts, and even elimination, of capital gains taxes. Right now, capital gains taxes are capped at 20 percent while average Americans pay 30 percent or more on their income. Mitt Romney famously said he pays fifteen percent in taxes because his income is taxed as capital gains. And now they want to eiliminate or cut those taxes? Hell, let's raise 'em. Watch it.

And add to your list Ron the billions we paid in bailout tax money to the thieves on Wall Street. By the way how many of you know that HSBC bank was not only laundering drug money but also terrorist money?? And the powers that be KNEW it! And they chose not to put anyone in jail! We have to practically STRIP NAKED to get on a plane but a Bank CEO can sit in his office and make deals with drug cartels and and terrorist organizations and KNOW that he won't be going to jail--ever!!
This country is completely upside down. I would also like to know why the media hasn't taken on the Attorney General and the SEC over what they have allowed the banks to get away with in this country. If you are going to take on the Iraq war then take it ALL on. You all don't even report on this stuff for years then you make these made for TV specials that get ratings and then you sit back and collect your media awards while patting yourselves on the back for doing such a fine job.
The media has been ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL! You have an obligation to the American people to be reporting on this stuff and you sit buy and do nothing! JFK reminded all of you back in 1963 that yours is the only private business protected by the Constitution. DO YOUR JOB! Start reporting some real news! Start going after these people, the thieves that have stolen our nation right out from under us.
You continue the left/right blame game while all this crime and thievery at the highest levels is going on right under your nose.

Linda S. I have asked the people who slam people on welfare, social security, medicare, medicade, unemployment, and the rest of the social programs this simple question. Why are we paying companies subsides for their business and giving them massive tax cuts while they are not hiring people here in America, shipping jobs out of the country, and being allowed to destroy lives here in this country. I have only heard them say what ronnie the great reagan famous remark was they are all WELFARE QUEENS. That is the problem people think anyone who is on any program the men are just sitting around drinking beers doing drugs, and having the women have more kids to get more money. The problem most of the people arent living like this, but the right will get one story of one person and run it into the ground. The people on the right are so affraid that they may have all the so called wealth taken away or that somebody may make enough to be equal to them that they will do everything to keep the poor down. We had trolls here who said this in many different ways and blaming everyone else, but their own greed and the policies of their own group for the problems.

In the 1990's, Senator Robert Byrd gave a compelling speech when the capital gains tax was cut to 1/2 the wage rate that is worth showing on the Ed Show. It was visionary and compelling and tells it like is.

We need a cost benefit analysis to determine just WHOSE welfare is costing this country the most. There is welfare in the form of AFDC and there is COPORATE welfare. I sincerely hope someone will do an across the board study. That includes ALL subsidies for anyone who is not on AFDC. It also includes capital gains because that is also a subsidy in the form of tax cuts. I'll bet if you added up the billions lost on corporate welfare, oil subsidies, and capital gains subsidies, it would far outweigh what is spent on AFDC, Medicaid, and Medicare combined. Oh and be sure and throw in all the billions lost on Medicare and Medicaid fraud also committed by corporations in the medical field.
Let's get real about the Big 3. Compared to the corporate world, its barely a drop in the bucket of our economy.

The best way to cut down on Welfare is called a liveable wage..............wages above the poverty line..............a majority of those on assistance have full time jobs, but the wages are not enough to live & eat "to say it simply"...........it is a myth that a majority of those who use assistance don't work or have jobs...........the welfare queen myth..........

You are spot on Ron...............I will add this is what the conservative idiots with pea-sized-brains don't get.............We subsidize the corporations & the rest of the big shots.............Assistance & other welfare isn't just for poor people..........it is a fact that is subsidizes big shots & corporations........it allows the greedy to over-charge cost of living compared to wages & under-pay wages while pocketing that extra money courtesy of Government subsidies & welfare "your tax dollars...........A corporation like Walmart makes large profits & get by with underpaying workers because the Government picks up the tab through food stamps & public assistance such as housing, day-care & etc.............because people who work full time & are payed poverty wages need to eat & a place to live since the employer doesn't provide that liveable wage the Government picks up the tab for them "makes up the difference"............and the greedy big shots & corporations get to pocket that money...............just like tax payers actually get over-charged when people without health insurance go through the emergency room & the Government has a fund set up to compensate the hospitals & that comes from tax dollars..........so the Affordable Care Act saves tax dollars by closing that fund & expanding Medicaid & insuring people............much cheaper than tax dollars paying hospitals for losses through unpaid emergency room visits............even preventative medicine is better than too late through the emergency room............conservatives are stupid my friend.

Mr.Fargo the nra will lie and lie to fire up the idiots who believe their poop. A couple of years ago I was told two things, and I just about fell off the chair. One was the government wouldnt give you your tax refund unless you listed every gun you owned, every bullet you had. I asked the person where he heard it and it was in the national newsletter from the RNC. and was a op ed by the nra. The second one was that the nra was sending out a newsletter saying in 2012 all gun owners had to turn in their ammo then the government would issue the owner new bar coded ammo so they could track the guns by the ammo the person turned in. This is the poop that came out of the nra & rnc and the idiots believed it. You know all this was so the jackboots of the united nations could come in and collect the guns. I saw that the nra is now saying the president is in favor of the collection of all guns not just the assualt weapons.
Mr. Fargo the gop=tea baggers wont touch the goose that lays the golden eggs. Any money that a person uses to live on is income and should be taxed at the normal rates of income. These people think it is ok to tax my social security at the full tax rate, but g-d forbid that a person who paid for the earned entitlement all their life pay less than the goose. The wealthy dont give a poop about this country and would throw this nation under the bus along with the people to make a profit. I posted on facebook a thing that show how the waltons (wal-mart owners) give themselves up to 485 million dollar raise, per person which gave the owners over a billion as a group, and didnt raise their employees pay or gave them benefits. This also showed that the employees of wal-mart are the highest users of the food stamps, medicade, and welfare for full time workers. Guess who pays for the waltons workers to survive. This is what is a joke the gun issue is a smoke screen and it deverts the attention of the masses of idiots to what the gop=tea baggers are doing to them. You and I along with other people with common sense cant fix stupid.
