Romney Blows it on Libya
posted by Ed Staff | Wednesday, October 17, 2012

Mitt Romney blew it last night at the Presidential debate, claiming President Obama waited fourteen days to call the attacks in Benghazi terrorism. In fact, in a speech from the Rose Garden the day after the attacks, President Obama called the Libya tragedy an act of terror. Jump to 4:18 in this video and watch as President Obama says "No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for."

There is no doubt in my mind that if Mitt Romney should win the presidency, his neocon advisers will contrive another reason for another mid-east war. If you have to use military options to keep Iran from getting the bomb, you will have to completely conquer and occupy that country. Are American ready for another trillion or two dollars for war with 4 or 5 thousand, maybe more, casualties? At least give diplomacy and sanctions a chance to work.

Excuse me, there is no lie. I saw those remarks in the Rose Garden that day. the President did call it a terrorist attack, after he had talked to many countries, and leaders in the UN on the phone, and they all agreed that it was a terrorist attack.

As to the particulars, we the public do not need to know all of the details, of what happened, because some things need to be kept quiet. That is what is wrong with everybody, they think that they need to know things that are none of their business., and want to play Mr. and Mrs. journalist. The mother of the Marine who lost his life, had to put a stop to follks using her dead son as political bantor.

Candy Crowley, just did what any decent self-respecting jounalist,-reporter would do, when they hear an out an out lie! She commented on it. The Republicans just cannot wait to make everything into political bantor, hopping to gain advantage for themselves. Well the President called them out and they cannot stand it. If Romney, or any of them were President now, we would be at war with

Egypt, Libya, Syria, Iran, and Russia again, and anyone else who would dare to step on their little tosies!!!!!! Those are the facts!

on her Libya fact check, suggesting that Romney was "right in the main, I just think he picked the wrong word," -Candy

It is a sad day when the President needs a chic named Candy to pull his butt out of an out right lie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He mentioned terrorism but didn't call this act terrorism until two weeks later.

"The attack apparently began as a reaction by an angry mob to a YouTube video denouncing Islam’s founding prophet."-Barack

Where is the source that says "this act of terrorism..." - Barack. Yeah that came a few weeks later.

And then, what a man. He lets Hillary take the blame...what a shame.

Obama loses big time on this one. Barack is going to get spanked next week on foreign policy. Nice spin Ed.

But hey, lets talk about that youtube video some more.

The only people who like wars are the corporate elements that get to stay safe behind the lines making profits while others fight them. Soldiers and service members deserve a Commander in Chief who is deliberative and who knows the facts before considering appropriate measures to respond to crisis. The appropriate response in a terrorist attack might be to simply modify security measures making yourself a harder target and working closely with the host government authorities in rounding up the perpetrators and building up the evidence for their arrest/trial. Its doubtful that a terrorist attack that killed four Americans is an event that justifies large scale military attacks by the U.S. What it might mean is a super-precise Special Forces raid, if and only if, there is plausible evidence or actionable intelligence to justify such an actions. We just can not go around the world and blow everything up in the name of justice.

This same principle applies for the problems with Iran which is essentially a diplomatic and political problem not a military one. So what if Iran made one or two nuclear weapons? Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia will immediately that day start their own nuclear programs and immediately beef up their offensive ballistic missiles with conventional warheads or even chemical warheads. Military air forces in all these countries also would be beefed up with their targets aimed at Iran. The problem of Iran's nuclear program is a problem for the United Nations and the European Union/NATO to come up with a diplomatic and political strategy to contain Iran's mischief. We need to remember that President Obama has done plenty to contain Iran with economic sanctions and much UN diplomacy. President Obama has also authorized the sale of over $60 billion worth of military and missile defense systems to friendly Arab Persian Gulf countries. So its just a matter of letting sanctions do their work and monitoring the situation while keeping our substantial forces in the Persian Gulf operationally ready for any Iranian threat.

Working closely with allies by diplomacy, beefing up security for a containment strategy, and eventually working out some sort of dialogue with Iranian regime is the best strategy forward. President Obama is reluctant to call this a containment strategy but what he is doing is essentially George Kennan's containment strategy. This strategy is nothing but common sense. We can not go to war every time a rogue foreign government does something we disapprove of. Iran has a large military with 530,000 active duty and about 1.5 million reservists armed with thousands of tanks and armored vehicles, hundreds of jet aircraft, and thousands of short ranged ballistic missiles. War with Iran would be ugly and mean thousands of American casualties and $200 per barrel oil plus a generation of terrorism across the region possibly even here at home. Iran is a huge country and fighting it would tie down all American military resources in a long dragged out quagmire war that could possibly mean the draft again. I am not so sure the neocons have thought this Iran problem through very well. Its best to have a proven leader like President Obama dealing with these problems than a neocon flake like Mitt Romney.

lord Romney of Binders Full of Women blew it on everything. He never answered his question, he never said if he paid his 12-14 women the same as he paid their male counterparts. He never mentioned their salary at all. Women would be crazy if they vote for this clown.

Way to go, President Obama. I just hope and pray there are enough thinking Americans out there prepared to vote. Obama can win the debate and still lose the election. Please everyone encourage people to vote by mail or find a place to early vote. I am worried that they (the GOP) will be at the polls in November screwing with people. Get it over and done before November 6th. If Ken and Barbie win the election, the middle class can kiss their behinds goodbye. We have got to get President Obama a second term---it is crucial!

Hey Lee. Michigan sez "Let Mitt Go Bankrupt!" and Go Ohio - Beat Mitt. My favorite debate moment was when Mitt was asking questions of the President - knowing full well that they both signed a debate contract that prohibited the debaters from directing questions at each other. Mitt couldn't even hold to this simple commitment and avoid embarassing himself. Mitt's responses were a stream of debate prep talking points that did not answer the question or frequently even relate to it and he couldn't stop himself from rambling on and DOMINATING! Good show. Michiganians are confident that our homestate boy, Mitt, can blow it. I am beginning to feel sorry for the billionaires that tossed their spare change into buying the nation and losing it all when they were expecting a huge return on their investment. All that cash and they couldn't afford to buy or were not smart enough to find a winner instead of a chronic liar.

I almost forgot. The President also tied "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt" around Robme's neck (appropriately so) and let him drown in it. It was so enjoyable to watch him try to back pedal away from that statement. (I come from a UAW family).

Libya is not the only subject where Robme blew it. First he said government can't create jobs. Then he said as President he would create 12 million jobs. Which is it?

All the President had to do was use Robme's own words against him time after time. Like shooting fish in a barrel.

"Due to a medical condition, it's hard for me to speak clearly, so I can't leave a testimonial over the phone. But even if I can't enter your contest, I would like to tell you my story because I love this product so much. A friend of mine passed on to me an old Lazy Boy recliner that someone offered her. She picked it up, sight unseen, and brought it to my house. While the chair was still as sturdy as ever, the dusty pink upholstery was quite stained and dirty from years of use and a decade of storage. Of course I grabbed my 3-to-1 bottle of Bio Green Clean and started spraying the worst spots, seat first. And it looked horrible! The seat suddenly had different colored circular rings all over it, and we were horrified. I began to panic. But then I realized that the color was different because the sprayed parts had actually come clean and bright immediately on contact with the Bio Green Clean! So we sprayed the whole chair from top to bottom and scrubbed the dirtier areas a bit with a cloth covered sponge. Then we rinsed, using my friend's little green deep cleaning machine, and wow! we had a "new" chair! The difference was astonishing, no rings, no spots, just a brighter, pinker and very respectable looking chair, all with just Bio Green Clean and water. And of course there was no leftover chemical smell or residue! What a winner this product is, its uses are endless, and for anyone with health issues, this is very important. Thank you again and again for your wonderful Bio Green Clean. "
