Advisor: Romney Will Back Off 'Self-Deportation' Policy
posted by Ed Staff | Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Watch as Romney advisor Mel Martinez says Romney will back off his policy the self-deportation he proposed during the Republican primary. "I think that campaigns are not the best place to make good policy, and primaries are probably the worst place. I think that Governor Romney will have a sensible view towards immigration, which I think hopefully will be good for the country," Martinez says.

Two points on that comment... First, Mr. Martinez seems to be implying Governor Romney's original position wasn't sensible, something we knew all along. And second, this must be one of those Etch-A-Sketch moments Romney advisor Eric Fehrnstrom spoke about, where Mitt Romney would just shake it up and start over with new positions after the primaries.

The Republicans really blew this election away when they filibustered the Dream Act back in December, 2010. The Dream kids were kids who graduated from high school after being brought here as young babies or toddlers. These Dream kids are America's kids. I met plenty of Hispanic people in the U.S. Army. Most of these Hispanic people were raised in America all of their lives. Some came from Mexico or Central America as very young people. Poor people who are good enough to pick our vegetables, work in a slaughterhouse, or perform a myriad of other service sector jobs or volunteering for the military are good enough to become citizens. Its hard sometimes during tough economic times to remember that these Dream kids did not cause the 2008 recession. We need to treat these Dream kids like human beings and allow them to live here and become citizens.

President Obama did the right thing by increasing border security but allowing these Dream kids to stay here. These Dream kids are America's children and any decent person would realize this. The Dream Act should have been passed in December,2010 but the GOP Senate filibustered it. I think this is one of the most under reported stories. President Obama enjoys about a 40 point lead amongst Hispanics that is not budget at all. This is more than enough of a margin for him to win reelection as long as he raises money and runs a good campaign. This Hispanic lead will give President Obama another term in November. I worry about Congressional and Senate races but I do not worry about the Presidential election because these Hispanics will push President Obama over the 270 electoral vote line. Democrats need to workout a plan to pass the Dream Act and then work on investments for infrastructure, green energy, and mass transit projects like European bullet trains like the French TGV so we can grow our economy again.

We all know what Romney says is subject to change an hour from now. The man is as phony as a three dollar bill. It's not about rallying around a popular candidate; I know repubs who can't stand the guy. It's about getting the half Black dude out of there. They have been freaking out since day one. They just can't stand it, and they aren't fooling anybody.

Mel has the GOP strategy down pat of being vague and saying as little as possible. Interesting though that Jan Brewer spoke last night and we know exactly where she stands. Mitt has said that her policies in Arizona should be followed throughout the US. We also know that the GOP fears the increase in diversity and has in some states targeted Latinos in their FALSE claims of voter fraud. This gives us a window into how a Romney presidency would deal with immigration.

America is in DANGER! The worst thing that could happen for US citizens, is that a republican could become president. Their budget plan is a nightmare! They give massive tax cuts to the rich and then tell us that is going to create jobs?!!!! It never has and it never will! but that is their idea of how to create jobs. Oh but what it will create is jobs overseas and massive profits that the big CEOs arent going to share with the rest of US.

Now we go outside the box. Sorry comittee. (wish me luck and pray for me).

The enemies of state (those SOBs who want me to suffer), the very same SOBs that put me under extreme duress, so that after aspecial election (which I won by the way), I could be declared unfit for office, well they have a new plan. That is to aggravate, annoy, agitate, irritate, even disturb and make me so angry that I may not be popular BEFORE the election. I'd be an angry disturbed man under such duress (mind you a president never undergoes what I have undergone), that once again I might NOT become president. What I'd like to point out is that it's what I DO that counts, not what I'd "feel like" doing when under extreme duress.

You should know me well enough by now to understand that I can handle normal and even extreme situations wisely, carefully and am not usually prone to make rash or careless decisions. I'm not perfect but I believe that you know the real me, and faith in me is well placed. Besides, If I become president, Obama would be right there with me. He has a proven POLITICAL track record. (dont worry Fargo).
