Rollins: Romney Needs to Release More Tax Returns
posted by Ed Staff | Monday, August 06, 2012

In an interview with Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday, top GOP strategist Ed Rollins called on Mitt Romney to release more tax returns. When host Chris Wallace said, "Obviously there are shelters in there, perfectly legal shelters," Rollins responded, "Two years is not enough, obviously." Watch it.

Let me rephrase that:

I do not believe anyone who hides their wealth from their country, refuses to be honest with the people he wants to work for, and cheats on his taxes deserves citizenship, much less be allowed to run for public office.

No matter what ones opinion of Mormonism is (cult or otherwise), Romney calls himself a man of "faith" yet he hides millions from his country as he cheats on his taxes.

He gives us a clear view of what a typical Republican is, however, more importantly, he gives us a perfect example of what his version of a Mormon is…and this guy is a “Bishop” no less.

Where Harry Reid is an example of a man of honor and integrity, Mitty should be excommunicated as a disgrace and embarrassment to his place of worship.

I do not believe anyone who hides their wealth from their country deserves citizenship, much less public office.

John you have it right. Romney is a terminal cheapskate. He's the kind of guy that leaves a 25 cent tip on a $100 check. In a sense that is what he has done with his federal taxes on a GRAND scale.

If you were in the service industry, would you vote for BAD TIPPER ROMNEY???

I think when he shows more than two years of tax returns, those earlier years will show either he paid no taxes or did something else that will sink his candidacy. That's why he's stonewalling the call of other Republicans like Ed Rollins to release more returns. I predict he will never release those returns and that's why the Democrats should keep pushing this issue and keep asking "what's he hiding"? I know things are not good for a lot of voters but do they really want a President of the 1%, for the 1%, and by the 1%?

How can this be a witch hunt when his own father made the statement that failing to show tax returns means you are hiding something???

Robme believes, as most GOP, that the rules only apply to "those people". The right wing doesn't believe rules are for them. We know how important they are. In their imagination!!!

Willard Mitt Romney has a responsibility to the American people to release more of his tax returns. He is a candidate for the highest position in this land and we need to know all about him. This is a reasonable request for which some of his colleagues on the right agree and the people on both sides of the aisle agree. What does he have to hide? We will keep pushing until he does the right thing. If he has something to hide, then maybe he should reconsider whether he wants to run for President. If he has nothing to hide, he should just submit at least another 3-10 tax returns. At a time when the wealth gap between the 1% and the rest of the population is so great, we have a right to know. The documentary, "We are not Broke," showed that the wealthy and multinational companies have bought politicians who enacted laws to protect them from paying a great deal of taxes and putting more of the burden on the rest of us. With or without additional tax returns from Mitt, we are getting a better picture that this is probably the case with him. How American is it to be more focused on making as much money as one can anywhere in the world than helping this country improve its economy?

If he could (without insulting the nation and verifying his complete lack of ethics), he would, but he can't, so he won't.

PS most people on the right are calling this a witch hunt and something to take the campain away from obama. They are home owners also and they seem to think it is ok for a man who wants to be president to do less than they did to buy their homes. Isnt this strange they are ok with no tax returns, but demand more proof from this president on everything he did from conception to now...

Most people who own homes are saying OMG I had to show 3-5 years of tax returns, show what I have in the bank, show proof of employment, and more to buy our homes, cars and get credit of any kind. This person is so self centered that he feels he is above the average person. How may years did he show to buy his house in california? Show me the taxes mitt as I had to show more that one year to buy my house even when I had 50% down..
