Without action from Congress, student loan interest rates will double in nine days. President Obama has been warning Congress about this for months. Obstructionist Republicans won't pass the bill to fix it unless Democrats agree to attack women's health. Watch it.
BTW--Ron--I am reading on the internet that the whole Neil Boortz A&M commencement speech is a hoax. That it never happened. Can you look into it and find out? He is partly responsible for the spread of the whole thing.

Ron-fyi-this wasn't the article that I was looking for but it is still pretty awesome. Nathan Scott West was the 12th man killed in the bonfire. He was from Bellaire (Houston) Tex. Neal Boortz isn't fit to shine this man's shoes. How dare he get up there and bloviate about politics when this university's history was built on service to country and military tradition.

The bonfire collapse there in 1999 was a real wakeup call to reality. And oddly 12 (12th man tradition) were killed. And the 12th man killed's bio read like some kind of hero. He was an awesome young man from Houston whose life was filled with high achievement and community service. There were forces at work there that we may never understand. We will not soon forget. Arrogant tradition ruled the day and those that warned of impending disaster were ignored. It was an humbling experience to say the least.
Funny Mr. Microphone didn't even mention that or pay homage to those lost, nor did he pay homage to all the cadets who did go on to serve their country in war time and there have been thousands. That's how the 12th man tradition got started because it was during WWII and there was a shortage of players so somebody from the stands stepped in to play.
I'll see if I can find the bio of that kid and send you a link. It was awesome.

I cant stand these tea baggers=gop who were old enough to serve in the military and didnt. Limpaw, rumney, and the rest of them that call every one unpatriotic and unamerican, never serve in the military or public service for this country. Linda the man insulted not only the people there he insulted the good things that the school stands for. The tea baggers=gop dont want others to have an education so they can control them. If you have people who are not educated they will be easy to control as they wont know the truth or know even how to look it up. These people can then rewrite history to make these people believe anything and they are believing all their lies now but not everyone believes lies and they need the rest of this country to be just a stupid and not question their lies

I've looked and can't find any member of the robme family, past or present, who has ever served their country. Not a grandparent, not an aunt or uncle, cousin or sibling. What's up with that? They really are a "privileged class. Will any news media report this?
TAX THE RICH, they should at least pay for the wars they won't fight!

Just read the speech online. Needless to say he won't be invited back. This is a man with a very sick mind who hides behind a microphone every day. He insults the entire faculty in his first line. This country would be in pretty bad shape in everybody in DC were like him with his sick cynical mind. He reminds me of a programmed Nazi.

How did he get out of serving in the military? They're supposed to give 6 years of service when they are in the Corps. I know this-- the military will not automatically take them just because they are in the corps. But if they don't there is a good reason. I had two nephews in the corps, did a little too much partying while up there, dui's, etc. Military does not want party boys. Their Dad was not pleased.
I spent alot of time up at Texas A&M and not everyone up there thinks like that. There are alot of women there now and alot of progressives. It is a prestigious university and a sought after degree. Thousands try to get in every year and are turned down.
I was pissed beyond belief that HW chose to make that campus the home of his presidential library especially given his history. I think it just taints the whole atmosphere of the campus. Not everyone up there is a Republican. He just chose it because of the military history, well, his military history as alot of questionable activity in it. So does his son's.
Of course the powers that be would not turn down the library because they knew it meant alot of money and donations their way.
Somebody needs to build one called The Bush Library---Reality History and tell all the dirty secrets and lies that have gone on in that family.
We also have a huge A&M campus down here in Galveston that is their Marine Science headquarters. They are not all about agribusiness anymore.
Remember Rick Perry another A&M braggart who refused to go to Vietnam. He flew cargo planes instead.
