President Obama Weighs-in on Limbaugh
posted by Ed Staff | Wednesday, March 07, 2012

President Obama weighed-in on the Sandra Fluke/Rush Limbaugh controversy yesterday. When asked, the President referenced his desire to see daughters Sasha and Malia engage in issues they care about in a "civil and thoughtful way."

"I do not want them attacked or called horrible names because they are being good citizens, and I wanted Sandra to know that I thought her parents should be proud of her, and that we want to send a message to all of our young people that being part of a democracy involves argument and disagreements and debate, and we want you to be engaged, and there’s a way to do it that doesn’t involve you being demeaned and insulted, particularly when you are a private citizen."

Watch it.

It sounds like loosing sponsers is have a toll on the drugster. He made another non-oppoligy today. Makes you wonder if maybe the gop has, behind the curtain, had a chat with him also.

And about Sanitariums single parenthood. IF that were even close to true, we wouldn't have a job problem. Many working people would be in prison and we would employ more people to build enough prisons.

Many kids grow up in single parent homes and do just fine. Many better than average, or even from "traditional homes. Just one more nail in the GOP coffin.

While I agree with Ron that we need to move on from the RL debacle, there is one lesson in this that I hope everyone will remember because it has historical signicance.

That being the President taking the time to call Sandra Fluke and show his support for her and her family.

In October 1960 MLK was arrested for staging sit-ins in restaurants where his own people were not allowed to eat. They let everyone else go, but kept him on a prior traffice charge.

Nixon had decided to remain silent on the issue, yet he was trying to figure out how to get more southern support in the upcoming election. JFK decided that was not the route to go. He called Mrs. King to offer his support and offer assistance. RFK was instrumental in calling a judge and getting MLK released from jail.

Believe it or not MLK's own father MLK Sr was planning to vote for Nixon. Why? Religion. Needless to say, he changed his vote that year and so did alot of people because of this one incident.

So this is basically what the GOP has in serious candidates.

1. One who wants to colonize the moon

2. One who insults the dead

3. One who baptizes the dead

And they wonder why there is no clear majority here???

President Obama can not get involved with every controversy from right wing talk radio. He called Sandra Fluke simply to say that as a private citizen should be able to speak their mind on an issue and not be castigated over 600 radio stations across the country. This type of bullying is typical of right wingers who care nothing about women's health issues much less family planning or birth control. So the bottom line is that this latest flap by Rush Limbaugh is indicative of some bullying type of behavior that permeates conservative culture. Conservatives don't care about women's health care issues.

In Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and the Scandinavian countries, women's health care and family planning services are ALL PAID FOR BY THE GOVERNMENT. Conservatives in these countries do not bother talking about issues that were settled generations ago. Only in America, where ignorant conservatives want to go back to the 19th century, do we waste our time talking about women's health care, family planning and birth control as an issue. Can you say "Griswold v. Connecticut, 1965"? Where are those jobs bills Mr. Boehner?

Sandra Fluke is the GOP's new ACORN.............until they set the record straight by correcting all the misinformation they strategically went after her with they are not genuinely apologizing...........they haven't stopped personally attacking her with lies & smears yet......so know way in hell is Rush or the rest of the conservatives truly sorry until they stop & correct the lies.....now they just play victim & tell more lies..............

President Barack Obama speaks like a true leader & with class.

The Radical Right are now conspiracy theorists & attacking Sandra Fluke as some radical activist who tricked them into putting their foot in their mouth for hours & hours & hours.....of despicable & disgusting personal character assassination attempts to discredit Sandra Fluke & completely lie about the facts.........now the radical right are playing victim...........

And Barack does it with class and style as usual. With nothing going the righties way at the moment, look for more and more viscous attacks as they degenerate into paranoid schoolyard bullies desperate for Obama to fail.

Lets move on and stop taking up time talking about this fat a$$hole. The main thing is to hit the gop=tea baggers where it hurts the most, and what do we use to shut the idiots up?? FACTS AND NOTHING BUT FACTS. If you come at them with facts against their BS time again they dont know what to say but that is the usual liberal line. And when you say where are your facts they dont have any or quote the A$$holes on fox or radio dead heads. So for me I put out things on every one of the issues that I can find from all different sources that dispute their phony facts. We need to spend time telling people facts instead of this time on rush... I have a friend who is a good catholic and she really believed that they wanted us to pay for abortion pills. I told her these pills are over the counter and are not covered by any health plan. Then told here these a combo of several old drugs for things other than abortion, but put together the could stop the process of becoming pregnante. This is what I am talking about get the plan and smiple facts to these people and just maybe they wont vote for the gop=tea bagger dictators. Remember friends as Sgt Joe Friday would say at a time like this "give me the facts and nothig but the facts"

just my humble view.

I think it is unfortunate that some in the political arena feel the necessity to use vulgar words to describe members of the opposite party. What kind of example is this displaying for the next generations? Many of worked hard to provide equally under the law for minorities and women to voice opinions on issues that they face them. To do this promotes democracy while the opposite is authoritarianism. The greatness of this country comes from diverse participation in our politics where everyone has a chance to speak. Mr. Issa prevented this from happening by having a panel of ONLY men discuss women's health issues. The Democratic House members provided a platform for Sandra to express her views as well as some of the other students at the university which she attends. For Rush to take this out of contents was wrong and serves no purpose other than to rile up the extreme right base who think that they should decide what is done in this country with no input from the other side. His sexual comments were way out of line as well as inaccurate. He did not know the facts or he decided to distort them so as to speak the language of the uninformed or religious right. It is unfortunate that he like Grover Norquist plays such a significant role within the Republican Party. Hopefully the GOP will recognize that these people are self-centered and are only looking out for themselves and care little about others. There needs to be a two party system in this country but each of them have to function in a civil way respecting all Americans and understanding that democracy can only exist when this civility does.
